Something to consider.:

A cute, furry rabbit is hippity-hopping down her favorite path on the way to the local hangout, aka the watering hole. She is startled by the wind moving something in the brush.  Fight-or-flight kicks in; there is a surge of adrenaline, so she takes off running for her life, as is her habit.  Whew! False alarm, it was just another rabbit.  This is a false positive (Type I error).

She greets her brother at the watering hole.  They drink their fill and frolic.  It's time for little bro to head out. He bids his sister farewell, and he's off up the same path. There is again a rustling off the path in the brush, there always is... a rustling. He pays it no never mind. Ahh, poor guy, he succumbs to a false negative, a ravenous feline, a Bobcat, and bro is just in time for dinner.  This is a false negative (Type II error)

So the next time you encounter some of us ADOS/FBAs adjacent  folk whose attitude is, an evidently simplistic, "White people bad, Black people good." Even though this flies in the face of readily available examples to the contrary, have a little sympathy, consider our devils. It is exhausting deciding, "hmm, is this Type I or Type II," whenever we walk out the door, and we are f*cking exhausted.

A false positive (Type I error) occurs when a test incorrectly indicates the presence of a condition or signal when it is actually absent ("false alarm"). A false negative (Type II error) occurs when a test incorrectly indicates the absence of a condition, failing to detect it when it is present ("missed" event)

Shawn Rochester: The Black Tax

 This is Shawn Rochester lecturing on his book,"The Black Tax." It's very interesting. The book is "better" having more material than a Google Talk can handle. He puts $ signs on STATISTICS.

Over my lifetime of figuring out how to navigate white America, I've had several YTs demands of me I suggest books for them to read on black folk and our ...sitchiation, as if I have access to a secret library or Internet they cant access. Since I have a few books in my head like, MLK, Jr.s book "Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community," I give them a few. They don't see their privilege that precedes the demand. Last year I reminded a guy (as I've done with all who've demanded) and said , "I'll cashapp you $50 (This is the first time I've added money to the mix) if you've read half of any one of the books." He hadn't touched any. In ALL cases, folks who had cosplayed to be concerned about black folk business had failed their own homework assignment. Was the cosplay for them or me? I argue it was for both of us. One interesting fact in the lecture is the high percentage of non ADOS/FBA's that hold prejudice and implicit bias toward ADOS.FBA's. In many cases there is no huge chasm between many of these folks and MAGA, but a thread
